OUR LATEST MOVIE
GAYONG is a film that chronicles the life journey of the late Dato Meor Abdul Rahman, the founder of the Pertubuhan Silat Seni Gayong Malaysia. The story of Dato centers on his defense of national pride in competitive arenas and later rising to defend the homeland when threatened by invaders.
The story begins with a fierce match against a skilled Muay Thai fighter. Meor not only demonstrates his physical prowess but also displays values of justice and generosity. Following this, Meor travels with his family to Kampung Ria in Singapore, where he works as a mechanic and later as a combat trainer for British soldiers stationed at Gillman Barracks.
However, the Japanese invasion forces him and the villagers to retreat to the last stronghold, Pulau Sudong. Amid the chaos and destruction of war, Meor leads the island's villagers to bravely resist the Japanese troops. The story reaches its climax with a showdown between Meor and a Japanese military officer, Yamada, in a test of strength and martial arts.
Ultimately, this story glorifies the spirit of heroism, sacrifice, and the community's fighting spirit to defend dignity and peace to survive. "GAYONG – MEMBUJUR LALU, MELINTANG PATAH" offers a profound reminder of the strength of cultural heritage and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.
